‘Give therapy a go, until you’ve tried it you can’t have any idea how much working with someone to improve the way you feel can help you and the people in your life’

Why Chris?

Finding the right therapist is about more than qualifications or therapeutic approaches.

Most people want to know one thing:

Will this person understand what I’m going through?

Chris is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with more than 20 years of experience in mental health. He works with adolescents aged 13 and over and adults experiencing a broad range of mental health concerns, including complex or long-standing difficulties.

His approach is based on a simple idea: people make sense when their story makes sense.

Many of the people Chris works with appear to be coping on the outside while privately feeling anxious, exhausted, disconnected, angry or overwhelmed. Others find themselves repeating the same patterns in relationships, work or life without fully understanding why.

Chris provides both practical support for current difficulties and therapy that looks more deeply at what sits beneath the surface. This may include exploring how earlier experiences, trauma and attachment patterns continue to influence emotions, relationships, self-worth and the ways people respond when life becomes difficult.

Chris works with people of all genders and has particular experience helping men and young men who may be uncertain about therapy or find it difficult to talk openly about what is happening. His approach is straightforward, thoughtful and non-judgemental rather than overly clinical.

Chris can assist with:

  • Trauma and the lasting effects of difficult experiences
  • Anxiety, depression and emotional overwhelm and all other mental health issues
  • Relationships and attachment patterns
  • Anger and difficulties managing emotions
  • Adolescent mental health from age 13
  • Men’s mental health
  • Shame, self-worth and self-criticism
  • Complex or diagnosed mental health conditions
  • Feeling stuck or repeating patterns in relationships, work or life

People often come to see Chris because:

  • “I’m functioning, but I’m not really okay.”
  • “I keep getting angry and I don’t fully understand why.”
  • “I feel overwhelmed but I can’t switch off.”
  • “My teenager is struggling and needs someone outside the family to talk to.”
  • “I’ve been through things I don’t think I’ve properly dealt with.”
  • “I understand my problems intellectually, but nothing seems to change.”
  • “I don’t know if therapy is for me, but something needs to be different.”

Chris’s style is:

  • Practical and thoughtful
  • Clear rather than overly clinical or complicated
  • Collaborative and respectful
  • Interested in both immediate problems and deeper patterns
  • Focused on meaningful and lasting change

Chris provides sessions face-to-face or via Skype, Zoom, or phone. You can reach him on 0449 734 441.
